Vinted and Rebelle Unite to Elevate the Luxury Second-hand Fashion Experience

Hamburg/Vilnius, January 18th 2024 One and a half years after Vinted acquired Rebelle, the Rebelle platform will be closed. The joint strategic move will consolidate the second-hand offerings of both platforms into one single Vinted-branded marketplace.

  • Rebelle will gradually close and invite members to join Vinted Marketplace until March 18th, 2024.
  • Rebelle users will benefit from a new value proposition and easy transition process to Vinted.
  • Rebelle founders retain key roles at Vinted Group, driving second-hand luxury fashion.

Starting on February 19th, Rebelle users will be invited to an easy, secure, and effortless migration process. They will have the option to move listings, brand and size preferences, as well as wishlist items to a Vinted account. Joining Vinted, Rebelle users will benefit from an enhanced value proposition, gaining access to millions of second-hand pieces across multiple categories. As members of Vinted, they will also be able to list and sell designer items for free and increase their chances of successful and faster selling.

Adam Jay, Vinted’s marketplace CEO, says: Migrating Rebelle users to Vinted is a super logical next step for both companies and for our combined community. Vinted will now be able to offer a wider range of items and price points through a single combined platform. This is also an important milestone as we enhance the high-value fashion offering on Vinted, building on the successful launch of Vinted's Item Verification service in 2023. We are proud of our progress, which has been hugely accelerated by combining with Rebelle.”

In 2023, the Rebelle team significantly contributed to the growth of Vinted Marketplace and will continue to play a pivotal role in driving scale and innovation around high-value fashion at Vinted.

The founders of Rebelle, Cécile Wickmann and Max Schönemann, have joined Vinted Group in senior leadership roles, actively supporting the company to accelerate and execute its mission to make second-hand fashion the first choice. As Senior Director of Luxury, Cecile Wickmann is driving the business strategy for high-value fashion items at Vinted, while Max Schönemann continues to work closely with the former Rebelle verification team as Senior Director Authentication & Fulfillment Operations at Vinted Go.

Cécile Wickmann says: “Our journey with Rebelle has been incredible. After a decade of successful operations, shaping the luxury second-hand business in Europe, I am more than excited to see our vision live on within Vinted. The decision to combine forces of Rebelle and Vinted was a strategic decision taken jointly by both companies. It paves the way for enhanced possibilities for Rebelle and Vinted members and for the future growth of the company.”

Rebelle’s renowned and trusted verification process has recently been integrated into Vinted operations. A dedicated team of seasoned experts carefully examines eligible items purchased on Vinted with its Item Verification Service at the verification hubs in Hamburg and London.1 The service is already available in Germany, France, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, and Italy for thousands of designer and streetwear brands. Some of the existing brands include Bottega Veneta, Celine, and Jacquemus or Adidas and New Balance, while more brands will gradually be added.
