Vinted introduces ‘Item Verification’ service for members to trade higher-priced second-hand pieces with even more confidence
Vilnius, October 16th – Vinted, Europe’s leading C2C online marketplace for second-hand fashion, rolls out its Item Verification service, after piloting it over the past few months. With this service, members now have the option to have selected items on Vinted above 100 euro verified by Vinted’s team of experts. The launch marks a significant step forward to increase trust in the authenticity of designer second-hand items and combat counterfeiting.
Vinted’s Item Verification service is an optional service at an affordable cost of 10 EUR to check the authenticity of selected designer items, including shipping to Vinted’s verification hub, carried out by a trained and experienced team of Vinted verification experts. During checkout on the platform, buyers can choose to pay for an item to be verified. The service is currently available in France, Italy, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands for selected brands and for items listed in adult fashion categories of bags, shoes, accessories, jewellery, and watches above 100 EUR. Members will see a banner with an item verification badge once they choose a listing that is eligible for verification. The service will gradually introduce even more brands, markets and categories.
“We understand that authenticity and trust are paramount in the world of online second-hand shopping and we believe this should be accessible to all. That's why we've worked hard to provide our reliable verification service for designer pieces at an affordable price. Since Vinted was founded 15 years ago, our commitment has always been to make second-hand fashion the first choice for everyone and we see this new service being a significant step forward in our ambition to provide our community with the utmost confidence" says Adam Jay, CEO of Vinted marketplace.
Vinted’s dedicated team of verification experts brings together over five decades of experience and accumulated knowledge about thousands of designer brands. After last year's acquisition of Germany-based luxury resale platform Rebelle, the two teams have joined forces to bring Rebelle’s expertise for item verification to Vinted members as well. The team of experts carefully examines eligible items purchased on Vinted at their verification hub in Hamburg.1
The service is already eligible for hundreds of designer and streetwear brands such as Bottega Veneta, Celine and Jacquemus or Adidas and New Balance while more brands will gradually be added. For more information and to explore the new Item Verification service, please visit our website.
