  • C2C marketplace Vinted launches in Sweden, helping bring secondhand to more people across Europe.
  • Vinted’s third market launch of 2022, following Slovakia and Hungary

Vilnius, 11th October 2022 This week Vinted, Europe’s leading online C2C marketplace dedicated to second-hand fashion, entered the Swedish market, its first country in the Nordics region and the next step on its mission to make second-hand first choice, worldwide.

The launch is part of a broader growth strategy to both build value in existing markets and expand into new ones, ultimately helping more and more people reap the benefits of buying pre-loved fashion instead of new.

Bringing the Vinted marketplace to Sweden follows successful launches in Slovakia and Hungary earlier this year. Vinted now has a community of over 75 million registered members across Europe and North America.

Vinted’s success is part of an increasing popularity of e-commerce and second-hand, and is testament to the benefits of C2C secondhand; these include financial benefits, such as enabling people to make a little extra cash or to save money on great brands, and to act responsibly by keeping items in circulation for longer. This popularity is evident in Sweden, where research suggests that the turnover of goods sold in second-hand retail in Sweden is set to grow by at least SEK1,5 billion per year in the coming years, and two-thirds of the Swedish population bought one or more second-hand items in 2020.

Adam Jay, CEO of Vinted Marketplace, said:

“To achieve our mission of making second-hand the first choice worldwide, we’ve been focusing on engaging more and more people in Europe, thanks to a compelling proposition of zero seller fees and a great product.

“The ambition of this mission requires not only rapid expansion but also continual product and service evolution to help show that to make secondhand really is better than new. Entering the Nordics with the launch in Sweden is an exciting milestone on our expansion journey, as we see that Swedes are tech-savvy and interested in a circular economy. We’re confident that Vinted’s benefits and convenience will be a great success.”
