Vinted launches in Denmark
Vinted continues its expansion to the Nordics, helping to make second-hand accessible to more people in Europe.
VILNIUS, Lithuania, 6th September 2023 - Vinted, Europe’s leading C2C marketplace dedicated to second-hand fashion, launches in Denmark.
With its app and website, Vinted provides an intuitive way for people to sell and buy their pre-loved fashion and other lifestyle items. From today, people in Denmark1 can download the app, register and start selling for free. Buyers will be able to access an extensive array of high-quality second-hand fashion and homeware items at great prices2.
After bringing its platform to Sweden last year, the launch is Vinted's second in the Nordics region, solidifying its commitment to expanding its reach throughout Europe and towards its mission to make second-hand the first choice worldwide.
"We are thrilled to bring Vinted's unique platform to Denmark", says Adam Jay, CEO of Vinted Marketplace. “We see3 that sustainability is a key concern for people here: while many trade second-hand for affordability and financial reasons, 44% of Danes we asked choose pre-loved as a way to shop sustainably. With our app we help people give their items a second life, and making second-hand purchases on Vinted has a lower climate impact than buying new”.
In fact, Vinted’s first Climate Impact report4, published earlier this year, shows that buying second-hand on Vinted is a better choice not only for its members' wallets, but also for the climate: buying second-hand on Vinted avoids on average 1.8 Kg co2 emissions, compared to buying new.
With 80M registered members globally, and more than 800M items listed on its marketplace last year, Vinted fosters an international community with connected markets. Members in Denmark are able to trade with a growing base of more than 9M registered members in Poland and Sweden, expanding their chances to sell, and to find great second-hand treasures.

2 For every transaction made on the Vinted platform, a Buyer Protection fee (5% of the item’s price plus a fixed fee of 0,5 kr) is applied to the buyers. Buyer Protection ensures integrated secured payments, access to Member support and entitles buyers to the refund policy in case the item doesn’t arrive, is damaged in transit or is significantly not as described. Separately, Vinted also offers attractive shipping deals.
3 Quantitative market research conducted on a sample of 700 women 18-45 years old in Denmark during 3-12 March 2023. According to the research: 44% buy pre-owned fashion items because they like to shop sustainably; also, further in the text: 46% say they haven’t sold, and 41% haven’t bought second-hand fashion in the last 12 months.
4 According to a Climate Impact Report conducted by Vaayu, buying second-hand fashion on Vinted instead of new demonstrated an average emissions saving of 1.8 kgCO₂e per item. The Report was conducted across 2021 and 2022 and analysed insights and transactions from 8 countries in Europe and the UK. More info at our sustainability page.
