Vinted launches donation feature, proceeds go to humanitarian aid in Ukraine

Vilnius, 22 March 2022 - Vinted has launched a donation feature across its markets, providing its community of over 50 million members with a simple way to donate, and inviting them to give back. In line with the company’s focus on enacting positive change, this important offering has been on the company’s agenda for some time and will remain a permanent feature, but its international rollout was moved forward to integrate the overall response to the war in Ukraine.

The new feature invites people on Vinted to donate part of the money available in their Vinted wallet or via other available payment methods. This is done in collaboration with the payment service providers Adyen and Mangopay, whose support was essential to enable this donation solution.

The response of the community exceeded expectations - with half a million euros (500.000€) collected in less than two weeks. Vinted had focused part of its communications on further raising awareness about this new solution and hopes to continue to see the engagement grow in the next few days. All of the proceeds will go to selected organisations providing humanitarian aid to the people affected by the war in Ukraine:

  • UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR)
  • Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)
  • Médecins Du Monde (MDC)

The new donation feature comes in addition to the company and employees’ initial commitment to allocate €2M to a range of humanitarian initiatives focused on supporting those affected by the war in Ukraine. Through this additional donation feature, we are thankful for any contribution made and the impact the combined Vinted community, employees and business can have.
