Vinted, Europe’s largest online C2C platform dedicated to second-hand fashion, has named Martin Scheepbouwer as its first non-executive chairman to support its leadership team as it continues on its growth journey.

Martin brings extensive expertise from more than 15 years in leadership at online marketplace businesses, most recently as CEO of the OLX Group. Prior to that, he held various roles at Schibsted (now Adevinta) and was CFO of eBay in the Netherlands.

The move builds on changes to Vinted’s structure, announced last year, which included the launch of Vinted Go and the appointment of a new CEO Marketplace, Adam Jay.

Thomas Plantenga, Group CEO of Vinted, said: “We’re extremely happy to have Martin joining to chair our board. I have had the benefit of working with him previously, so I know he will bring a new and valuable perspective. While we are not making any other changes to our board, this decision is a natural step in setting up Vinted for continued success.”

Martin Scheepbouwer said: I’ve admired Vinted and followed its story from afar, so am pleased to be joining the board at this stage in its journey. Vinted’s leadership team has strong values, a clear, strategic focus and rigorous execution. These strengths have helped Vinted develop into a European leader in secondhand fashion, even during a challenging financial climate. I look forward to helping contribute to future growth and also to learning from the team myself.”
