Choosing second-hand instead of buying new is better for your wallet, your wardrobe, and the climate. We’re doing our part to make it your first choice.
Vinted promotes reuse by helping you keep fashion and other items in circulation for longer, which is a key way to reduce the emissions produced by the fashion industry.* To measure our impact, we asked Vaayu to conduct an independent study of 350,000 of our members and assess the emissions saved during half a billion transactions.
There’s an entire international community making an impact by buying on Vinted instead of new. Recirculating clothing on this large a scale can reduce the climate impact of retail fashion.*
*WRAP research has shown that you can reduce carbon, water and waste footprints by around 4-10% each by extending the life of clothing by just 9 months. Source.
Avoided emissions

Replaced new items
More than one third of Vinted orders prevented the purchase of a new item.
Committed to the cause
One fifth of our community would still choose second-hand over new, even at almost the same price.
Your impact
We’ll continue measuring our community’s emissions savings so you can see the positive change you're making.
Our network
We'll keep connecting you to more buyers and sellers as we pursue our mission to Make Second-Hand First Choice, worldwide.
Your unused items don’t deserve to end up in the bin or at the back of your wardrobe. Giving them a second life with someone else doubles the enjoyment without doubling the manufacturing emissions.
Shared values
20% of Vinted buyers and sellers are motivated by environmental and social concerns.
Circulated with care
A majority of sellers would have recirculated their unsold items, and only 1% would have thrown them away.
Sold quality items
Almost half of sellers choose to sell their item because it no longer suits their style, rather than it being physically worn out.
Our incentive for sellers
Selling second-hand avoids some negative impacts on the climate. With zero selling fees, we make sure it only has a positive impact on your wallet.
Shipping contributes the most emissions related to shopping on Vinted. Even your small choices, like reusing packaging or delivering to pick-up points instead of homes, can make a big difference.
Recycled packaging
By reusing packaging originally intended for single-use, Vinted sellers prevented more than 17 kilotonnes of CO2e.
Streamlined shipping
Delivery to a pick-up point instead of the buyer’s home reduced emissions by 62%.
Opted for pick-up
Approximately 73% of our members’ shipments were delivered to a pick-up point in 2021.
Our responsibility
Shipping accounts for 97% of our operational footprint; with our new Vinted Go service, we’ll have more control over this impact.
Our response
We’re setting science-based targets to reduce our emissions in line with SBTi standards, as informed by the Paris Agreement.
